From Iryna in Lviv, Ukraine – The war has begun. Explosions, a rocket, war planes. Great fear and panic, danger for the life of my 5-year-old daughter. My daughter and I had to drop everything and evacuate from eastern to western Ukraine. It was scary and hard, all the migrants were settled in schools, in gyms, 100 people each on mattresses on the floor next to each other. There were practically no amenities and I had to go to friends to take a shower and wash my child.
It was very difficult psychologically to be left without anything all of our clothes, food and belongings were left behind, and not see any prospects in life and just survive, understand that you can’t give anything to your child – an awful feeling.
I am very grateful to Refugee Support Foundation who have given me back hope and help to leave the gym floor and find shelter and help for food and other needs. I can’t imagine how life could have turned out without this help and I will never be able to express in words the gratitude that I feel!
